Team Fortress 2 is a multiclass action shooting game that has grown to be one of the most popular online shooters in history. Developed by Valve, the game takes online shooters to a new level with its imaginative blend of class roles, game modes, and fast-paced game play. Each role is tailored to a certain style of combat that players can expand on to form new strategies and add to the ever changing online experience. Any player can pick up a class and learn the basics of playing that character in a few minutes to find if that play style in for them. Once a player finds the class and style for them and with al little practice, there is an endless amount of carnage they can reap upon the opposing team.
Even the teams themselves have personality and an interesting story behind them. The RED and BLU teams are forever at odds. The Builders Team United (BLU) is a cover company for a massive secret organization that hired mercenaries to fight a secret war against their rival, Reliable Excavation and Demolition (RED). Both companies hire the various classes to wage never ending assaults on the other. The two companies have installations in comically close proximity to their hated enemies, which provides the backdrop for the many locations and game types of Team Fortress 2 and makes them fit great with the theme of the game. The lightning fast game play speed will keep anyone on their toes, as they fight for either the RED or BLU teams in an all out war for dominance.
The most praised aspect of Team Fortress 2 is the balancing that each class has in relation to each other. No one class can dominate a game without coming up against a class that can take them out. The balance prevents a team from only using on class, but keeps the team diverse and interesting. Skills that a player has with a certain character can make or break a game for their team, so every member is important to victory. But not every class is useful in every game situation, changing classes to fit the tide of battle is also another great part of playing Team Fortress 2. This has made the game a very rewarding experience that continues to stay interesting and fun over the years.
The classic modes such as Team Battle, Capture the Intelligence, Capture Point, Payload, and King of the Hill are used over various locations in the game to keep the game exciting and fresh for new comers and veterans alike. Each game type offers a different objective that stimulates play. Ranging from capturing territory and keeping it, to moving bomb into the enemies bad, there’s something for everyone to play. Each different game type still centers on killing the opposing side, but the added objectives promote better class choices for the team to fit strategically, making the play far more interesting. The differing objectives of each of the game types make the game forever engaging as you can jump from one type to another on a whim.
